Petite Retreat Special Guests!

A special announcement about our upcoming Spring Petite Retreat:
We are so pleased to share with you that our friends Julie and MaryBeth from Poppyseeds will be our special guests at our Spring event! They will be sharing their treasures with you here at Retreat Farm on Saturday, May 8 ONLY, so don't miss them!
We met Julie on our first trip out to the Island, when we just HAD to stop into a darling little shop, Poppyseeds, on the side of the highway through Stanwood. Ever since, we've been friends! Julie &  MaryBeth {cousins} have been wonderful about making us feel right at home in our new community. Within a month after moving here, we were renting a room in their shop and displaying our Retreat treasures, until January of this year.
The girls are constantly re-filling the rooms of this charming little cottage with wonderful finds & vintage style! Color is really their 'thing' - it's a happy place!
We've had a lot of fun doing special projects at their store, events, and flea markets both local and distant with them, over the past year and a half. Having them participate in our first little show is our chance to thank them for all they have done for us... we really are excited to share our friends and their business with you at our first vintage seasonal market.
So we invite you to bring along your love of color and whimsy when you come to our May event, because 'the Poppyseeds Girls' will have it in spades! Visit their blog to see more, and Follow them on Facebook, too!

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye....

Over the past 14 months, we have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Poppyseeds. Sweet Marybeth & Julie have posted a goodbye to us on their blog, and we just want to say thank you in a very public way for these two lovely women and all they have done for our business. They have made such an impact on us...

Our little room has undergone many changes as we shuffle things in and out, and change up the themes & color palettes each month. Shop owners Julie and MaryBeth have always offered us the freedom to explore our options, develop & define our brand image,  build our reputation and following, and contribute to their shop... and we are so grateful for that. There are so many wonderful people in the vintage/antique world who reach out to others, and these girls are at the top of the list!

It means the world to us that they allowed us to come in and put our mark on our room, promoting both our own business AND theirs in the process. Thank you for your trust, your honesty, and your faith in us, girls! We hope you know how special we think you are, and how much this time has meant to us. We wish you much success in the future, and we'll be dropping by to keep in touch, don't worry! ;0) {Besides, we're not really all that far away!}

Make sure you visit the Poppyseeds blog!

bittersweet

There's a room full of sweetness waiting and a party goin' on at Poppyseeds!

In celebration of a new year, Valentine's Day, and spring, we have filled our room at the shop with lots of white & pink delicacies. You'll find vintage products and handmade items created from vintage & reclaimed components. It's really over the top cute, and we feel it's only fair to warn you that this room could cause cavities.;0) I was inspired by my eighth birthday party, all the way down to the kitchen setting and the pink crepe paper streamers.... my mom will be shocked that I remember it, I'm sure, but it was a little girls' dream!

Now for the bittersweet part...
Retreat will be leaving Poppyseeds at the end of January. We adore owners MaryBeth & Julie, and have really loved being part of our local community by having this space in their shop, but it's time to move forward with other parts of our business plan. (this gives them more room for their fabulous furnishings & decor, too!)

Retreat's last day at Poppyseeds will be Wednesday, January 28th,
so you only have 22 days to get our sweet stuff there! This is the last colorful, themed display you'll see from us, as well... Retreat's palette and style will be much more refined and relaxing for the coming year. Poppyseeds is such a colorful, cute shop, we had to do one last blast before leaving!

Poppyseeds is located on Hwy. 532 West in Stanwood, WA. just 20 minutes North of Everett (60 minutes North of Seattle). The shop is open M -W -Th - Fri - Sat from 10:30 to 5:00 PM, and Sunday from 12:30 to 4:30 PM. Closed Tuesdays.  Call 360.629.SEED (7333) for more info. Visit http://poppyseedshop.blogspot.com.

Let's Try This Again......

Somehow when I was taking final shots yesterday afternoon, I neglected to get the 'full shots' of the setup in our room. DUH. In my own defense, I was really, really tired! So we went back this morning and took a few -
now you can see how our little 10 X 9 room shaped up for the Season:

It was a busy day at the shop for the Open House Block Party (see post below) and a lot of our vintage goodies sold (including our vintage-style tricycle!). So, if you see something that you like in these photos, get into Poppyseeds tomorrow or it might just be gone...

The bed shown, by the way, is a regular twin size. It is set up as a 'short', as used in window displays and such.  The price of $125. is for the headboard & footboard only - they will attach to a standard metal bed frame (like the ones you get from Sleep Country when you buy a mattress.....) OR if you want to create a toddler bed, you can attach a few boards from Home Depot! ;0)

It's a Ho Ho Holiday from Retreat

'Twas the night before the Open House' and all through the store,
Little Elves are creating Christmas Joy galore!

It's a HoHo Holiday for you from Retreat:
We've got cute, we've got bright, we've got happy and we've got sweet!

We've done marvelous things with what used to be beds
You can now rest your seat instead of your head!

We've filled every nook, cranny, cubby, and shelf
with vintage decor - it's divine, if we DO say so ourselves!

The chandeliers are hung from the ceiling with care,
and ornaments sparkle EVERYWHERE!

We've lit up the place with red, white, & light
sure to make your season Merry & Bright!

Peek in the mirror, glance thru the door,
you'll be amazed by what we have in store...

We've loaded the room with furniture, decor, and a gift or two -
you'll find something that is the perfect gift from YOU!

...or maybe FOR you!
We've got it all ready, it sparkles & shines
So come to the party and have a good time!

Two of the mini-chandelier ornaments in black are still available!

And for the first time at Poppyseeds, we offer Deb's original 'Junk Queen' Crown creations. This time, it's a special Halloween version with smoky vintage crystals - perfect for the 'Scream Queen' in YOUR life!

Or maybe, just for your Halloween pumpkin?!

Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater....

New Additions....

Just in today at our room in Poppyseeds:

*A 4' diameter round vintage metal table (repainted with a weathered light gray finish; has central umbrella hole) that would work splendidly outdoors, indoors, or as a retail display fixture (you can run electric lines for lamps up thru the hole!) priced at $95. Table top easily separates from legs for transport.

*A very comfortable rocking chair, spacious enough for a man but with curvy lines that girls love, can be yours for $145. The seat has a burlap slipcover over it - but beneath it, the original upholstery is in perfect condition! It's a small floral in ivory, gray, and pink. Here's a closer look at the rocking chair...*A simple desk or dressing table, made from solid hardwood with original brass hardware. We did paint over the hardware! (it was bright finish brass - sturdy and long-lasting, but not quite fashionable anymore). Seven drawers - two file-size - offer plenty of storage in this slim-profile piece of furniture. Priced at $135. (Center drawer shown opened). The gray vintage chair is $55.
*The magnificent solid wood 'Butler's Table' or 'Hall Tree', made from an antique front door from Seattle, a leg & trim from an Eastlake table, and hooks from a century-old building in Texas, is still available! It features a painted 'weathered' gray finish and white trimwork, and the vintage mirror (not permanently attached) is included! (The fencing mask is not included - but it would make a FABulous Halloween mask!) Priced at $325., this is a one of a kind statement piece with functionality and beauty.
You can view any of these pieces and more at Poppyseeds, a home decor boutique in Stanwood, Washington. Visit their blog for hours & directions, or give Julie a call in the store at 360.629.7333 to purchase via credit card.

We'll be setting up at Sand Point in Seattle on Saturday, and I'll try to get some 'sneak peeks' of our booth displays on here Saturday night for you. Plan to come see us Sunday! We have even more wonderful new things for you there...

This Just IN!

A peek of what's new today in our space at Poppyseeds:
This large, curvy classic Eastlake-style tea table with a perfectly worn white finish would be lovely in a foyer, hallway, landing, or as a bedside table. A tray or basket would fit nicely in the lower section for more storage possibilities.... priced at just $175.
SOLD
A one of a kind bench straight from the shop of Mr. Bob, created from a vintage twin-size headboard & stair spindles. With simple country lines and a beautifully Shabby white painted finish, this would be a perfect entryway or porch piece... especially if filled with happy orange pumpkins for fall! Priced at $195.

If you are interested in either of these pieces, give Julie a call at Poppyseeds - 360.629.7333 and she can help you out! You can pay over the phone, too! Tax will be added.
SOLD (all four)
We also have two of these big ol' metal Post Office desks with dividable shelves at $75 each, and two versions with narrower tables at $50 each, here at the farm. (They are a BIT too big to fit into our space at Poppyseeds!) Email us at kennedy2design@gmail.com if you are local and interested in them.
